How did it go? survey
2020 The power of YET!
Objective:
Students, their teachers, their families, and their community will be slyly enticed to hunger for more. Learning (exploring) will be fun and rigorous. In the pre-event instructions we discuss failure opening the door for opportunity and that perseverance is key to success. At the end of the event there is will be a positive shift in how students think about science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics! The hope is that students, their teachers, and their families are interested enough to keep exploring and reach for … more.
What is it?
Full STEAM Ahead! is a fully interactive hands-on day for students in pre K – 6th grade. All activities are geared to encourage students to explore science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. Students will have 7 rotations that include all 5 of these academic disciplines. The event will begin with a power point introduction and explanation of STEAM. Then groups will rotate to each station. Each station will have a mini lesson with an identified objective, hands on activity, and a reflection piece. Community volunteers, parents, teachers, and students will be involved in creating this learning rich environment.

WHY??
This hands on exploration allows students to come up with their own unique process, product, reasoning, and explanation. Every member of the team will need to have hands on for the outcome to be considered a success. The outcomes do not identify a “winner”. To be successful all you have to do is explore. The activities are not designed to identify deficits or strengths but to encourage unique solutions; there are not wrong answers.
