Tony DiTerlizzi and "The Spider & The Fly" (scholastic's illustrator)"The Spider & The Fly" Featured on UK's Bookaboo (silly narrator) #64285The Spider and the Fly (spooky narrator) #64285Make an origami SpiderThis is an incredible poem written by Mary Howitt many (200) years ago, yet it still pertains to lessons that should be learned in the world today. Evil schemers will do everything they can to lure innocent victims into their world. This is an eye-opening tale that makes children realize that these schemers will use flattering words and whatever else they can to get what they want.
Read this book during Red Ribbon Week when you are teaching students about choices and being drug-free! We talk about how people will try to get them to try drugs/alcohol to get them hooked and lead them down the wrong path in life. Kids really know more than what we think they do! Believe me, they will not forget this story! Mary Howitt must have dealt with this issue hundreds of years ago and wanted to teach her own children a lesson, too. |
